DEIJ Statement ( link)
The ICF Global Board of Directors approved the ICF Statement of Diversity, Inclusion, Belonging and Justice in July 2020. Staff and volunteer leaders from ICF’s six family organizations subsequently cosigned the statement. This statement of principles reflects a position we invite every ICF Member, Credential-holder and accredited provider to subscribe to.
ICF Members and Credential-holders live and work in more than 140 countries and territories. ICF is a vibrant global community committed to the shared vision of making coaching an integral part of a thriving society. Our mission is to lead the global advancement of coaching. To do this, we must reflect on our blind spots and be aware of opportunities for improvement. We cannot ignore the challenges that many coaches and coaching clients face due to systemic problems in their communities. As members of the ICF community, we ascribe to the core values of integrity, excellence, collaboration and respect. The foundation of these values is a shared commitment to diversity, inclusion, belonging and justice. We will place diversity, inclusion, belonging and justice at the forefront of every decision we make within our Association. As we continue the journey toward our vision, we will recommit ourselves to valuing the unique talents, insights and experiences that every coach and client brings to the world.

Illness Policy + Making Up Sessions
In order to provide you with the minimum required training hours for certification, it is important that you are present at all course meetings. If you have an emergency or become ill and are not able to attend a coaching session, please contact us at support -at- yourcourageouslife - dotty- com, immediately.
For our program, you may miss up to 6 total training hours. If you miss between 6 - 10 hours of calls, you’ll need to “make up” the time so that you have never missed more than 6 total hours of training (e.g., if you miss 8 hours of training, you’ll need to “make up” 2 hours of time, which would bring you back to having missed only 6 hours of training). We describe that in more detail, in your Manual, including the limitations of what you can and can’t make up.
Any course time missed is time missed. If you are chronically 15 minutes late to calls or exit calls early, the time you leave early is accrued and adds up as absence.
We cap lost time at 10 hours, and do not allow trainees to continually “make up” time if they have missed more than 10 hours of calls. Example: if someone has missed 10 hours of calls, they can make up four hours so that they do not exceed our 6-hour limit. However, if someone has missed 12 hours of calls, they are missing too much class time and have gone beyond the point where we will continue to allow you to make up hours. That is what we consider “Excessive Absence” and we do cannot certification to someone who is missing that much class time.
Ten hours is our firm boundary around missed call time. We do not go back and forth over that line. Example: if someone misses ten hours of training time, then makes up four of those hours by attending a curriculum based bonus call, they are officially back at only having missed six hours of total training time. That’s great—we accept that—but if the person then misses yet another call of any kind, then that means that they are again dancing over that line of having missed calls, and at that point, making up hours is no longer an option, and certification is not an option. We cannot have someone repeatedly missing training time and then finding alternative ways to make up the time.
Missing Mentor Coaching
If you miss more any of mentor coaching sessions, you will need to arrange and pay for individual mentor coaching sessions to complete the required 10 hours of mentor coaching to satisfy the International Coaching Federation requirements. The cost for a Mentor Coaching session is $175 per hour-long session. Sessions must be made up prior to November of the calendar year during which you are a participant.
